The purpose of this article is to stress the importance of practicing safe sex!
When you practice safe sex, you dramatically reduce the chances of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted disease.
We live in an age where there are a wealth of products available to help people to plan for safe sex and have responsible intercourse. It’s important to remember that other than abstinence, no product or practice is 100% effective.
The 38-year-old R&B singer, Usher Raymond, has allegedly been sued at least twice for having sexual relations with women while infected with herpes.
An online source recently published court papers that show the “Confessions” singer was allegedly diagnosed with herpes years ago, around the time he filed for divorce from his ex-wife Tameka Foster.
Usher was accused of “consciously and purposefully” withholding his diagnosis from the woman “and continued to have unprotected sex” with her. He also allegedly told the victim he had tested negative for the virus, despite a “greenish discharge” from his penis.
According to court documents, the woman was tested and diagnosed with herpes after suffering from symptoms such as vaginal sores, fevers and chills.
The woman reportedly said she “feels that her health and body have been ruined” and “has suffered severe emotional distress and has been extremely depressed … knowing there is no cure.”
The Willful Exposure law in California states that it is illegal to knowingly or recklessly transmit a STD.
In this case, a settlement with the woman was reached on Dec. 28, 2012 for a total of $1.1 million.
It's also a violation of criminal law in many states to have unprotected sex without disclosure of your STD. As it should be.

A second alleged victim has come forward and is seeking $10M according to TMZ in an article that reads:
Usher had sex with a woman earlier this year who had no idea he was exposing her to Herpes … according to a new lawsuit she’s filed for millions of dollars.
According to the suit, filed by a Jane Doe, she and Usher hooked up in Atlanta on April 16 at her home. She says there was some heavy petting, some kissing, and she performed oral sex on him. They eventually had intercourse, and she says he wore a condom.
However, in the docs, obtained by TMZ, she says they had sex again 12 days later — this time in a New Orleans hotel room — and they did not use a condom.
Cut to this month … when Jane Doe says she read news reports about Usher admitting in docs, connected to an earlier legal case, that he has Herpes Simplex 2.
In this new suit, the woman does not say she’s infected. She is concerned because she was “exposed” and says she wouldn’t have had sex with Usher if he’d disclosed he has the virus.
She’s suing “U.R. IV” — Usher Raymond IV — for negligence, battery and emotional distress … and is seeking at least $10 million in damages.
We’ve reached out Usher’s reps, but haven’t heard back yet.
This is an unfortunate example of the implications and risks of engaging in unprotected sex. The impact on the lives and livelihoods of of those infected with STD’s can be far-reaching and devastating. Safe sex begins with knowledge and education so be sure to do your part to protect yourself and your partner.
